Things To Never Buy Again

belfast_landfill You know that there are things out there you know you shouldn't buy, buy we do it anyway's; it's more convenient. I mean It's much easier to get that cup of java in the morning taken in a Styrofoam cup rather than needing to lug around a thermos or your own traveling mug. But making the change takes effort, and if that means a little inconvenience than so be it. In the end its not truly an inconvenience but rather a lifestyle change we have to be willing to make.

There is allot to consider when being more eco-friendly. If you are looking for a basic place to start consider the following items you should never buy again.

Co-op America, a foundation dedicated to directing retailers to follow social and environmental responsibilities, listed a few items to avoid buying. According to their standards of "non-sustainability and impact on clean air and water" these products should never be purchased again. Better yet, help have them abolished from consumer/retail altogether.

1. Styrofoam cups made the top of the list because they have this nifty knack of lasting forever. Meaning that their compounds will never breakdown. Maybe in a few thousand years archeologists will dig them up and wonder why we used them.

2. Paper towels because they could easily be replaced with washable hand towels.

3. Bleached coffee filters because of the harmful dioxins produced during bleaching.

4. Overpackaged foods and other products because they waste resources.

5. Teak and mahogany because harvesting them destroys tropical rainforests.
