Last winter had some record highs for some parts of the United States and Canada during the winter months. This year meteorologists are predicting another warmer than normal winter ahead of us.
"Forecasters believe the emergence of a La Nina condition (unusually cold ocean temperatures in the equatorial Pacific Ocean) will be the main factor behind the anticipated warmth for much of North America."
The Pacific Northwest on the other hand is predicted to have a cooler winter than normal. While some may welcome a warmer winter (cause lets face it we all hate being cold) natural species are becoming thrown off over their new unbalanced environment. Polar Bears for example, are having less time available to hunt seals on the ice.
