It seems that everyone is going out and buying these new LCD or HD Plasma televisions. Well if you can afford their high costs, don't mind that they are in-efficient, and that they really only have a shelf life of about five years; than, for the love of trees - please, at the very least, have them recycled!
Recycling you TV's ensures that they are disposed of properly. You'll be able to rest easy, watching you HDTV, knowing that your old set is not causing more damage to the environment.
If the set still works and you'd hate to see it disposed of, great! There are tones of people out there who wouldn't mind taking it. I would suggest joining a group like Freecycle and give it away over their message board. Someone in your community will come to your door and take it away.
