Canadian homeowners can measure their family's consumption of energy and decrease electricity bills by as much as 20 per cent.
The Power Monitor from Black&Decker can save the average Canadian family approximately $220 a year in energy costs. It's the first product in the Black&Decker Energy Series Category.
The way it works is the Power Monitor tare feature allows users to zero-out background energy use in the home to understand the specific cost of each appliance.
Homeowners can, for example, track the cost savings of replacing an old refrigerator with a new ENERGY STAR model , turning off the air conditioner, or using less water.
"Most people think of energy as invisible - if we can see energy and measure energy, we can more intelligently impact consumption," says Bryan Shinn, product manager, Black&Decker Canada.
"Power Monitor gives consumers the control and understanding of how to make smart choices in their home to save money."
