It seems that there was a little scuffle at the Heathrow airport on Sunday in London between police and environment protesters. The protesters were trying to set up camp at the airports car-lot but were quickly dispersed by police with batons. Environmentalists are becoming concerned by recent trends of the increased air travel. Because of these trends Heathrow airport plans on expanding to accommodate. Traveling by air is a major cause for concern for the environment as it is a major contributer of CO2 emissions.
"British police with batons scuffled with groups of climate change protesters on Sunday near the headquarters of the operator of Heathrow airport.
The clashes in a field close to airport operator BAA's building came after largely peaceful marches from a camp where campaigners, who want to draw attention to the impact of aviation on global warming, have been massing all week." Simon Rabinovitch
Avoid traveling far from your home. Find ways to work close to home, telecommute, teleconference, etc... Also travel to places close to home for vacations; you might be surprised at what you have yet to discover in your area. Read Sustainable Travel for more info on Eco-Vacationing.

Here is a small sample of the side of the debate we almost never hear:
Appearing before the Commons Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development last year, Carleton University paleoclimatologist Professor Tim Patterson testified, "There is no meaningful correlation between CO2 levels and Earth's temperature over this [geologic] time frame. In fact, when CO2 levels were over ten times higher than they are now, about 450 million years ago, the planet was in the depths of the absolute coldest period in the last half billion years." Patterson asked the committee, "On the basis of this evidence, how could anyone still believe that the recent relatively small increase in CO2 levels would be the major cause of the past century's modest warming?"
