New Legislation Bans The Standard Light-bulb By 2018

A new energy bill was passed that will ban the standard incandescent light bulb by 2014 in the United States. Phase out is planned to begin in 2012. There are no similar plans for Canada even though the UK has already banned the energy-inefficient light-bulbs.

The energy plan predicts that $40 Billion will be saved by 2014. This will also mean that the US will not need at least 14 electrical coal plants.

If I could say one thing though. Replacing all the bulbs in the world is a great move. Energy saving is one of the simplest and effective was to conserve energy. The problem is that like what is happening in Japan, the more they find ways to make energy conserving stuff the more we buy more electronic devices.

It's surprising to see that people think that bigger is still better. We have fridges that can run on half the energy as previous models but the new ones are twice as big! We need to think energy conservation and change out mentality as to what we need and not of what we could have.

Wow. For the states that's a big deal. I still just din't understand why it has to take 6 years to put this in motion.

I here what you mean, Jyle, about buying more electronic thingds. It's funny how things work like that.
