Indonesia Will Plant 79 Million Trees in One Day

The country of Indonesia is planning on having a massive tree planting campaign on November 28, 2007. Their goal is to plant 79 million trees in a single day! The program hopes to offset the 4.2 million acres of forests cleared each year.

India had a similar tree planting festival in which they set the record by planting 10 million trees. If Indonesia is successful in meeting their expectations, they will be the record holders for most trees planted in a single day. The programs are apart of the UN Billion Tree Campaign.
