July 31, 2007 was an eventful day for all environment lovers out there who witnessed India set a world record by planting 10 million trees in a single day. The local population, farmers, industrial units, government departments and the forest department made up the massive 600,000 participants who took part in the project. The tree planting day was only the beginning of what India is calling its Billion Tree Campaign. Obviously, as the title gives away, their goal is to plant one-billion trees. This is not an easy task for the most population dense country in the world. I truly hope that they follow through with their plans. The rest of the world could learn from their example.

Holy crap. 1 million with just 600 000? Good for them. I wish Canada did massive amounts of tree growing.
