Hybrid Sales Are Up 49% in US

prius-hybrid.jpg
They say that the US economy is slowing down even though Canadians are experiencing a boom. With the countries dollar nearly at par, many are wondering if the US can recover. Amidst all of this, US car companies have experienced a 49 percent increase in the sales of hybrid vehicles. The most popular being the Toyota Prius and Camery.

"Hybrid sales were up 57 percent in the Midwest, the most of any region. The Toyota Prius and the hybrid version of the Toyota Camry were the most popular models there. Hybrid sales rose 52 percent in the West, 49 percent in the Northeast and 42 percent in the South" - AP

This is a great sign that people are taking the problem of global warming seriously. Hybrid vehicles are more energy efficient because they use both a gas and electric powered engine. The electric motor drives the car from 0 - 50mph and then the gas engine kicks in to take care of highway driving while charging the battery at the same time.
