Green Roofs

A major problem in insulating a home is the heat loss in the roof. The attic usually has a heavy layer of insulation at the base while the roofing area is left open and cold like a garage. If you have a home that makes use of its attic space for storage or an extra space. If this is the case much of your home's heat will be lost through the roof.

One creative way of better insulating the roof is by installing a low maintenance grass roof. A manufacturing company now makes it easy and practical by selling grass tiles. The grass is grown on rubber bases that allow the rain water to drain properly. Your community may have laws against doing the renovation so check before considering any grass roof plans.
