Getting Rid of Junk-Mail

Flyer Pollution on a Miami Street.jpg

We need to get rid of junk-mail! I will feel bad for those children who enjoy sorting through and delivering flyers after writing this, but on the other hand I feel worse for all those trees that need to be cut down to produce them. Plus, delivering flyers is not all that fun and the pay is really bad.

Junk-mail can easily be replaced with e-mail flyers. It's a way more efficient system. Having your flyers come to you by e-mail you can see the flyers when you want, and when you see a deal worth going for, print out the coupons and bring it with you to the store.

Large stores have been taking advantage of the e-mail flyer advertising for a while. The only reason why they continue printing junk-mail is because there are still people out there who prefer the old paper flyers. Well if you are a "hugger" do your part to reduce the amount of flyers stores need to print by signing up for e-mail flyers from your favourite stores, and cancel your delivery of paper flyers. Here's how you do it.

  1. First thing I would suggest doing is to set up an e-mail account that will be used specifically for e-flyers (example: jyle-junk-mail@email.com). I only recommend this because sometimes the stores will send you quite a bit of mail that you may not want cluttering up you important e-mail.
  2. Sign up for e-flyers by creating accounts with the stores using you new e-mail address. Note that some times they will ask for your postal-code so that you get the flyer pertaining to your local store.
  3. Contact your city office to find out how you can stop receiving flyers. While your there complain that they should be banned (there are other more efficient ways of advertising).

Wow, I thought there would be more steps than that. I guess it's just that simple. You should also know that you have the option of unsubscribing from e-flyers at anytime. So don't worry about getting too much junk.

Here is just a short list of stores and their direct links so you can begin receiving your e-flyers.
