Gaming For The Environment Wii Style

nintendo_wii.jpg

Not only is the Nintendo Wii fun to play with its cool controls it's also the most environmentally friendly gaming console on the market today.

"Columnist Dean Takahashi from the the San Jose Mercury News took a special measure to document electricity usage of various gadgets in his home. Surprisingly, he found that the Nintendo Wii consumed only 17 watts vs the Xbox 360 which uses 194 watts, which was about the same has his 42-inch plasma TV. The Sony PlayStation 3 used 171 watts. Amazing for Nintendo."

That means that the Nintendo Wii uses a little more than a energy-efficient compact florescent light bulb. What's great too is that the Wii has a standby feature that shuts itself down when the unit isn't in use. The controllers however use two AA batteries that can be quickly drained when you get carried away playing your favourite game. Solution: buy rechargeable batteries so that you use them over and over again.
