Electronic Newspaper

newspaper Its hard to imaging the world without the Internet these days. During the Renaissance period Kings received their news at months delay. Before the Internet people heard the news a day later. Today we hear the news in real time. It's great because if I want to know what's going on I just look it up rather than wait for the 6pm news. If I like a show but don't have time to watch it I'll just read the synopsis online.

I take for granted as to what an advantage this new medium is. Not too long ago I subscribed to TIME Magazine. Along with the weekly read, the subscription came with an online archive. Meaning, I could read any article TIME ever wrote current or past. This was a great advantage when I was writing my college papers.

I received a call from my local city newspaper, begging me to subscribe with them the other day. Though the offer was tempting, I can't help but think of the paper and ink used to make the paper, the old inefficient building all of the reporters work in, the gas used keeping the vans running all morning for their delivery, and more! It would be irresponsible of any environmentally conscience person to get their daily news by paper in this day in age.

I'm not saying that we should ban the newspapers, on the contrary. I think that they should offer special prices for those who would prefer an online subscription. A widget perhaps, that can get you the news feed as it's happening. And for those who like to watch the news, have online podcasts. I would gladly pay for that type of service.
