Cuba has comitted to planting 135 million trees for the UN Billion Tree Campaign.
Cuba is one of the few countries participating in the Kyoto agreement who have managed to turn back the national CO2 emissions. A feat no one expected for a third world nation. But it's not just a statistic, Cubans have been working hard to reforest their island since the fall of the Baptista regime.

Before the Cuban revolution in 1959, 13.4% of the national territory was covered by trees. The government's intensive reforestation program has increased the national forest cover to nearly 25% at a rate of 0.6% per year.
If Cuba can do it why is it so difficult for the United States and Canada to get on the ball?
