Cordless Phones Are Energy Drainers

I use corded and cordless phone because lets face it they are easier than running to the phone when you get a call. Cordless phone can be carried around the house and if you have those head sets you can talk and do the dishes at the same time.

Sometimes though, saving energy is not about convenience. Cordless phones are energy drainers. Land-line phone don't even need to be plugged into an electrical socket.

I'm going to suggest that everyone throw out the cordless phones, but what I am going to suggest is to follow a few energy/environment saving tips to get the mixture of cordless convenience and conscience green effort.

Don't leave the phone on the charger all the time: Follow the instructions the cordless phone came with. Not letting the power completely discharge from the phone reduces the batteries life.
Dispose the rechargeable batteries properly: Staples, Futurshop, and Best Buys have battery recycling programs for our convenience.
Have a least one corded phone: Put in in a place where you would use it the most.
Unplug the charging station at night. The cordless phones charging station is a continuous drain of electricity. Unplugging it at night will help reduce your energy bill, and because you'll have a corded phone hooked up you don't have to worry about missing a call.
