Are you tired of spending a fortune on your energy bills? An estimated 17% of home energy costs goes towards the basic idle consumption of a house. That means that even if you spend a year in Cancun, you will still be paying for those "trickle" energy bills. Minimize this by taking advantage of the new ecoENERGY Retrofit Grants offered by the Government of Canada's ecoAction program.
How it works is you have your home appraised by a certified home energy advisor. They will run you through some suggested home improvements that will make your home more energy-efficient. You then have 90 days to make those suggested upgrades and have the energy advisor come back for a post home appraisal. Send in your receipts and they will send you a check in the mail. Sounds easy enough, well when it comes to the Canadian Government nothing is that simple. So for a detailed list of the steps and requirements visit the ecoENERGY Retrofit Program's website or download the PDF version.
If you are still unsure, do your research and find out how much the retrofit will save you. The retrofit pays for itself - I mean the retrofit is free and will save you no matter what, so what is there to think about!
