Blackle Search Engine Helps Save The Environment

blackle.jpg

My wife showed me this new search engine by Googlethat helps save power by having a black background instead of the origional white one. Blackle gets the same search results as Google would so nothing is changed. What cool about using this search engine is that it has a counter underneath where they measure the Watts save by switching to black.

I have become obsesed with making my Dell laptop run as efficiently as possible by deleting unnecessary files and stuff. After learning about Blackle I decided to change my energy wasting Windows XP picture background with just a plain Black one. I'm not sure how much doing that will actually save me, but it all helps. The best thing to do regardless, is to shut down your computers at night, or at least have it go to standby when not in use.

Check out Blackle and let me know what you think. Oh, and can anyone tell me how to get Blackle into the Internet Explorer search toolbar?

I also got obsessed by black after I started using blackle. I even chose a black template for my blog. Have you tried blackify? A toolbar button that makes the web page change to black.

I prefer using www.Darkoogle.com as their text are green which reduce eye strain. So instead of saving energy from our monitor, it also save our user's eye energy.

There are around 25 different versions of “black google” online. The best one I’ve found is www.cleanblack.com. Cleanblack is the only version that allows you to change the text colors of the google search results. Try it yourself by going to www.cleanblack.com/theme/
