Bill Clinton's foundation has chosen the city of Toronto to be the recipient of tens of millions of dollars to help jump-start its green transition. Along with 15 other worldwide cities, Toronto will use the funds to upgrade city buildings by replacing old windows and boilers with energy efficient ones. It is estimated that the upgrades will help reduce energy consumption by 20 to 50%.
The other cities that have been chosen to receive similar funds are;
New York,
Chicago,
Houston,
Mexico City,
London,
Berlin,
Tokyo,
Rome,
Mumbai, India;
Karachi, Pakistan;
Seoul,
Bangkok,
Melbourne, Australia
Sao Paulo,
Johannesburg.
The selected cities have been called the "first wave" of green donations and that the foundation hopes to donate more in the future.
